UWSAG talks to Giorgio and Kristie Casson
of CE Awards of Distinction

Owner: Casson Enterprises Awards rated 2.0+ with UWSAG
Winner: Award Seekers Pick! for September, 2003

  1. What got you started in website design?

"We got started as many other people have, using online editors, but were always frustrated at the limitations so we started learning little by little the ins and outs of coding and image design. We have had many not so eye pleasing sites along the road but the end product is the site you see today. We have taken a lot of advice and read everything we could get our eyes on. We aren’t looking for perfection, just a reflection of ourselves."

  2. What do you hope to accomplish with your award program?

Giorgio Casson "We hope to bring out the person behind the website. Each site should be a “photo” of the person that created it, showing personal interest, hardships, great events, things that make that person unique. So many hours of hard work are put into creating a great site that we felt that it is the person behind the site that should shine through. Anyone can make pages full of pictures, but the written word of each individual is what makes going to each site more interesting."

  3. What advice would you give other program owners?

Kristie Casson "We would have to say our best advice would be to look around at as many award programs you can find, then create something completely different. Make it your own and then stick to your program no matter what. The most revered programs are the ones that are not like the rest."

  4. What was the biggest problem you faced with your award program?

"Our biggest problem was and still seems to be the lack of consideration and respect from the webmasters that apply for an award. Seems that more and more people are only looking for another award to add to their site without giving the AP they are applying to the same respect of reading what the program is about, that they expect in an evaluation of their own site."

  5. If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?

"Really, we don’t think we would do anything differently. We have put together this program with a lot of thought of what we would like to see, what makes a good site. We are constantly striving to make our program better and fine tune it to better describe what our purpose is for even having the AP in the first place. Everything we have done with our program till now has brought us to where it is today and we are very proud of what our program stands for."

  6. What plans do you have for the future?

"Our main goal, as you could read on the many areas of the rest of our site, is to finally be in the same country. We have had a long and hard road for the past three years and finally in just a few short months, we will begin our lives together in Italy. ( Surely will make editing and sharing ideas for the site a lot easier too!)."

  7. What else do you like to do?

"As far as the site is concerned, we are always coming up with additions to the areas already started and seems that daily we are coming up with more ideas. A great site is never really finished, it is always a work in progress…as we all are."
