UWSAG talks to Jennifer Mahon
of JeM of The Net Awards

Winner: UWSAG Award Seekers Pick! for June, 2003 - September, 2003

  1. What got you started in website design?

JeM of The Net Awards "Honestly! Evolution. My first website ‘A Signature for Love’ went online in 2000, site design was not even a consideration for me as I knew absolutely nothing about design. My ‘PicsNTrics’ art site well that is another story. I surfed the net for months, jotted down all the aspects I considered worthy to implement into my own site design and played with the html until I was satisfied."

  2. What do you hope to accomplish with your award program?

Jennifer Mahon "I hope to aspire to longevity and commit myself to assist, educate, and partake in the community."

  3. What advice would you give other program owners?

"Firstly, I would advise to prepare both mentally and physically for the challenge an Award program brings. Owning and running a quality award program is neither easy nor short term, it is however extremely rewarding."

  4. What was the biggest problem you faced with your award program?

"A sad and always frustrating dilemma is the applicant with ‘Apply’ tunnel vision. I made a commitment to dedicate my time and resources to reward webmaster excellence, all I ask in return is a few moments of the applicants time to read the criteria over, comply and when all aspect have been met then ‘Apply’."

  5. If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?

"Nothing! As mentioned earlier evolution is an important aspect of development. Mistakes were there to be made and I learned from them. One can not walk before they can crawl and running a successful Award program is no different."

  6. What plans do you have for the future?

"I would love to complete just a few of the 18 or so web design project I have sitting on my computer."

  7. What else do you like to do?

"Self expression through art, I tinker all the time. I enjoy long walks with my human friends and their companions, Sasha my Alaskan Malumute has a social life too."
