UWSAG talks to Lynne Miller
of Nu-Horizons Designs Awards

Winner: UWSAG Award Seekers Pick! for March, 2003

  1. What got you started in website design?

"I come from an artistic family in the fields of music, writing and art. My interest in this areas exploded when I became part of the Internet community. It gave me an opportunity to explore new venues and express myself to the inth degree."

  2. What do you hope to accomplish with your award program?

"We wish to give encouragement and also a “pat on the back” to aspiring and novice webmasters. We take our award program seriously. Before we got into the field of web site design, etc., we too had a personal web page with an Award Program to share with the Internet community. Needless to say, we have developed since then. With that said, our Award Program has grown since then, many times over, and is enjoyed as much as the first day we started."

  3. What advice would you give other program owners?

"Recognize the areas of interest to those on the Internet. We are always changing and/or adding specific awards to our program in order to recognize the multi-faceted topics. Hence, our program may be larger than most. Should you wish to have 1 to 3 awards, we would recommend that you think about following a standard level, i.e. gold, silver, bronze, etc. OR, a single award representative of your own web site is also a consideration."

  4. What was the biggest problem you faced with your award program?

"Quite honestly, we have not faced any serious problems with our award program. All of our applicants are very pleased that they have so much to choose from. We are also very happy that we are here to compliment the many in their personal and/or business endeavors. We would like to think that an Award Program brings the world together. Some of our winners have returned many times for either a visit or to apply for a new award that we may have developed."

  5. If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?

"We would not do anything differently. We feel very comfortable with our award development and the purpose behind it."

  6. What plans do you have for the future?

"That is quite a question. At present we are involved with web site design, logo/banner design, free web graphics, and beneficial affiliate partnerships. We have an idea on the back burner of getting into tutorial and consultation services from the ground level up; done in many phases. There are so many web sites out there that offer these services, but we want to wrap up everything to do with web development, marketing, promotion, selling, products, recommend proven concepts and strategies, etc., under one umbrella."

  7. What else do you like to do?

"We enjoy our family, our work and the adventures of tomorrow ~ the list is never-ending. What else do we like to do – whatever the future holds – we will always be learning."
