UWSAG's Enforcement of Copyright Policy
United Web Site Award Givers is not an organization devoted to censorship. However, we must take responsibility for our Internet. Joining United Web Site Award Givers is not a RIGHT it is a PRIVILEGE. The Internet is about freedom. Rules serve a purpose. Freedom is given to us so that we can make our own choices - responsibly. It is NOT responsible to allow children to view pornography, racist or hate filled sites. Theft of intellectual and copyright property or bandwidth is not responsible. United Web Site Award Givers fully supports web sites of Award Givers and Award Seekers that operate in an ethical manner and that do not knowingly do business with those who infringe or advocate any type of infringement through the use of graphics, templates, music, etceteras. If for any reason, you have a legitimate concern regarding the validity of a copyright for any United Web Site Award Giver MEMBER/AFFILIATE site, you are encouraged to contact our Internal Mediation Service at mail@uwsag.com with your issues. All complaints will be kept in strictest confidence. If the website is believed to be infringing on another individual and/or group copyright you will be reported to APIC - The Association for the Protection of Internet Copyright - and possible legal action could result. In case of a copyright dispute, make sure the following items are present: 1) screenshots of offending material and your own for comparison 2) in case of "branding" (name of program/organization) proof of registration must be shown. We will then consider all evidences. Remember that all parties are innocent until proven otherwise! Once a dispute is indeed verified the offending party receives 2 weeks to correct it otherwise all memberships and/or ratings will be revoked immediately. UWSAG does not engage in negotiating disputes between websites or award programs unless it applies to the "Seal of Approval Nominee" program (or if it's immediately related to UWSAG). In such case, all disputes must be directed to our disputes director for review (or to the therefore designated official). UWSAG will not be held accountable for illegal content contained in areas other than the award program of those listed in our Halls after the evaluation is complete. If such illegal content is found, sufficient proof must be presented to our disputes manager and and the UWSAG listed award program owner will be questioned. UWSAG reserves always the right to refrain from any legal contest involving copyright or privacy issues between any members. We also like to point out that any advice or opinions communicated by a boardmember on matters of privacy or copyright, via email, or in the forum cannot not be considered as legal council.
